Welcome to the HB Progress.  I'm so glad you came to visit us today!  My name is Miss Melissa Schwartzkopf,
Here's a little bit about me you may not have known.

I was born and raised in San Bernardino, CA, and attended public school the whole while.  It's not always easy
to live for Jesus in the public schools, but I believe it made me stronger and taught me a lot.  I graduated from
Cajon High School in 1995.

From there I left my mom and dad and brother and sister to attend a private Christian college,
Concordia
University in Seward Nebraska.  I graduated in 2000 with my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education,
K-8, my teaching credentials, and my Christian Teacher's Diploma.  What a great time I had in college, with
memories that will last a lifetime.

My first teaching assignment was at Trinity Lutheran Elementary in Fairfield, CA where I taught third grade and
third through fifth music.  I got to teach every subject and enjoyed my time for those first two years.  But I wanted
to live closer to family and moved back to San Bernardino where I taught fifth grade at Banner Elementary
School.  In 2005 I accepted a fourth grade teaching position at Pathway Christian School in Redlands, CA, and
enjoyed the two years I got to minister there.  When the school closed, most of the faculty and staff banded
together to form a new school, "Westside Christian School."  I taught there for two years, teaching fourth and
fifth grades in a combination class, 4th-6th P.E., and running the chess club and putting together the year book.
I then taught  4th/5th grade at
Good Shepherd Lutheran School here in Menifee, CA, and now have moved into
this great new position of Technology, Spanish, Music, and P.E. teacher, and chess club instructor!  It's
everything I love doing!

I want to put Jesus Christ first in my life.  Then everything else will work itself out.  I have a passion for teaching
and I love people.

I have so many interests.  I enjoy riding my bike home from school--the 15 mile trip is so fun, but I usually just
take the bus.  I love theater, especially musicals (I've been in at least 18, and involved with more).  Currently I'm
involved with a
Christian theater group.  We write radio shows and work on musicals.  I've currently had two
radios show produced;
The Princess and the Pigs and  The Emperor's New Clothes.  I also turned The
Princess and the Pigs into a musical that was staged in February of 2011.   I'm writing a fantasy-style novel.  I
also enjoy singing, cooking, telling stories, sewing, painting, working out, playing chess, reading, playing board
games, and playing video games.

For the kids:  My favorite color is blue, especially a rich royal blue.  My favorite animals are cats and raccoons.
I have a pet cat named Leto.  I don't eat sweets.  My favorite foods are any kinds of melons.  My favorite board
games are Settlers of Catan and Dominion, and the spin-offs of those games.  My favorite store is Barnes and
Noble.  Some of my favorite movies are Fiddler on the Roof, It's a Wonderful Life, Ben-Hur, the Princess Bride,
and Star Trek VI:  The Undiscovered Country.  My favorite T.V. show is Star Trek Voyager.  I know how to
juggle and I write in my own code.  And I'm six foot two inches tall because people are always asking me.  If
you ask me my age, I'll say I'm 100.  It gets kids confused half the time.  I'm actually 34.

One of my favorite Bible verses is
Joshua 1:9: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do
not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Feel free to
e-mail me anytime.  God bless your day!
